If you are discussing working with us and would like to receive a sample of our Statement of Work, just ask our recruiting team.

What is a Statement of Work?

A Statement of Work (SOW) is a detailed document that outlines the specific tasks, deliverables, and timelines that are expected to be completed as part of a project. It serves as a formal agreement between a company and a contractor, ensuring that both parties understand the scope of work and what is required.

Around the world, each country and culture has its own word for this kind of document, but at iMerit we call it a Statement of Work, or SOW.

What does the SOW include?

Our SOW is designed to give you predictability about the project's demands on your time and your expectation of earnings.

All SOWs include:

  • Start Date and End Date

  • Payment Terms: Confirmation about how and when you will be paid.

Depending on your project type, the SOW will include details of some or all of the following:

  • A Project Requirements document (see below)

  • Hours per working day

  • Rate per hour (USD)

  • Number of tasks

  • Rate per task (USD)

  • Monthly pay (USD)

Project Requirements document

This is a document attached to your SOW that acts as an exhibit to your Statement of Work. You must review the requests in this document, make sure you understand them, and carefully follow them. Failure to follow the instructions or guidelines may mean we have to remove you from a project. If you have questions about the document, please make sure you ask before signing your SOW.

Why is a SOW important?

A SOW is important because it sets clear expectations for both you and iMerit. By having everything in writing, it helps prevent misunderstandings and ensures that the project runs smoothly. It also provides a reference point if any disputes arise during the project.

Does the SOW contain specific task instructions?

No. While the SOW defines important aspects of your work with us, it does not include specific details about the tasks or quality requirements of the project. Your Project Manager will provide you with specific instructions via the Worksuite platform.

How do I find the SOW after I signed it?

On Worksuite, in your left-hand navigation, navigate to Documents -> Agreements, or visit https://scholars.imerit.net/docs/agreements/arrow-up-right
