# Payment Rates

### How iMerit Sets Scholar Payment Rates

At iMerit, our goal is to ensure fair, transparent, and consistent payment rates for all Scholars. We carefully determine your individual payment rate based on several key factors:

* **Location:** Local cost-of-living and competitive market rates.
* **Experience Level:** Your professional background and previous related experience.
* **Skillset:** Specialized skills or certifications you possess relevant to project requirements.
* **Past Performance:** Your historical performance metrics and feedback from previous projects.
* **Leadership Responsibilities:** Additional compensation for Scholars holding leadership or supervisory roles.
* **Nature of the Task:** Complexity, scope, and specific requirements of the assigned task.

#### Agreeing on Individual Rates

Your individual payment rate is established through an agreement between you and our Talent Acquisition team during onboarding or project assignment discussions. This personalized approach ensures fairness and clarity from the outset.

#### Regular Reviews of Rates

To maintain competitive and equitable compensation, we review Scholar rates every six months. Adjustments may be made to account for significant changes in market conditions or exchange rate fluctuations.

Scholars with consistently high [performance ratings](/scholars/performance-and-scholar-ratings.md) are more likely to receive positive adjustments during these reviews.

**We value your contributions and are committed to ensuring you feel appropriately rewarded for your efforts and expertise.**
